Come and try it out - for free.

Free hockey sessions - back by popular demand!

Stevenage Hockey Club is pleased to offer the below FREE sessions during the summer months.

Hockey is a fantastic sport for all ages and abilities, for both boys and girls. We are excited to welcome children and teenagers to come along and try these introductory / taster sessions out, for free..

When and where?

Every Sunday from 28th April through May, June and July - you do not need to commit to every week, just come along when you want to.

Arrive at just before to start at 10.00am, session ends and children can be collected at 11.00am at the astro pitch entrance/gates.
We request that parents of children that are under 8 to stay and wait / hang around please.
Nobel School: Hockey Astro, Mobbsbury Way, Stevenage SG2 0HS.

What ages can come along?
Children and teenagers aged 5+. Sessions are coached with boys and girls together and in appropriate age and ability groups.

Is it only for beginners?
These sessions are for beginners, it’s also for those with some basic experience of hockey, however we will also be catering for those that have played before or currently play.

What do we need from you?
We must have a fully completed registration form for each child before the session starts.
We need you to complete a SHC Session Registration form for each child – you can paste this link into your browser.

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfMyRPLThhNeDJFLL8MxJhKrBUcxyOylU4j8qKhLvtMgSdgmQ/viewform?vc=0&c=0&w=1

Once we have received your completed form we will email you confirmation and more information about the session – usually within a few days.

My child really enjoyed it, I want my child to continue after the 3 sessions, what do I need to know?
We offer hockey sessions for juniors every Sunday morning, at Nobel pretty much all year round (with a few weeks break in late March and April and a few weeks break in August and December).

It is EXTREMELY good value at £30 per season per child – this provides your child with at least 40 (sometimes nearer 45) fully coached sessions – which equates to less than 75p per session.

Most children aged 13+ will be invited to attend adult training (our ladies train on Wednesday evenings and our men train on Thursday evenings at Nobel) with the coaches and your consent and agreement. Weekly league games with adults are available for those aged 13+ that we feel are ready to take part - ask us for more information if your child is 13 or over.

And what about you?

Many of our junior members have parents or older siblings that play too! Our club comprises over 100 ladies and over 80 men, from age 13 to 70, of widely mixed abilities. It's never too late to pick up a stick and learn to play hockey or get back into it! Just let us know if you’re interested and we can send you separate information.

Stevenage Hockey Club is Club Mark accredited
We are the ONLY hockey club in Hertfordshire to hold this recognition.
Clubmark is the universally acknowledged cross sport accreditation scheme for community sports Clubs. It stands for:
