The Ladies 2s visited Cheshunt, in the hope of securing a very valuable 3 points.
Both teams started well with end to end play in the first 10 minutes but a strong run from Kate Mouncey proved to much for Cheshunts defence as her top D strike found the backboard. Stevenage continued to dominate the play with lots of attacking force, Katie Tempest drove the ball along the wing and sent a beautifully weighted pass into the D where a perfectly positioned Josie Bygrave sent the ball past the keeper.
Cheshunt managed to secure a goal against the run of play just before half time. Stevenage regrouped and continued to look strong in the second half with the cheshunt goalkeeper having to make some good saves. Stevenage made use of all their players by passing the ball up the pitch to wrong foot many of the opposition leading to Claire Weston receiving the ball in the D and sending a reverse strike into the bottom corner. Despite many more team attacks Stevenage were unable to secure any more goals leaving the final score
Cheshunt 1 - Stevenage 3.
Valuable 3 points secured and 3rd position still very much up for grabs.
MoM was Holly Portingale.
