Stevenage Ladies 1s were determined to get a good performance after a disappointing result against Thurrock last time out and were boosted by their win the previous week.
The game started well with solid defence from Captain Kato, Rachel and Sophie. April who was filling in for Izzy was brilliant in goal, saving a couple of short corner strikes. Some excellent passing between the midfield and attack led to Lucy opening the scoring.
Not long after there was an amazing run by Zoe who gave the ball to Charlotte, eagerly waiting to take on the keeper and duly obliged with a goal.
Zoe followed up with a 3rd goal and the whole team was feeling the confidence boost. Even a dramatic injury from Steph couldn't stop the momentum being created by Jude and Ali in the middle. Lucy put another goal away to finish the half in a strong position.

Then the second half opened with an onslaught on Thurrock’s keeper with Hannah and Larissa giving Thurrock’s defence a lot to deal with. With some determined play, a rebound found it's way to Gemma Roakey who somehow managed to score.
After some more penalty corners the pressure was all on Thurrock and before long Lucy had put away her 3rd of the day. Stevenage played out the game with some terrific game plays giving them confidence to take through to some tough games ahead.
Despite the wind and rain the final score was another 6-0 win for the second week in a row. Big thanks to umpires and all supporters who braved Dennis to make the game possible!
