Ladies 2s hosted Berkhampstead and Hemwl Hempstead 3 for their first league game of the season. We focused on our positioning and using width to create excellent pressure which resulted in a short corner withing the first 5 mins. Josie was able to capitalise from the rebound and scored our first goal. Continued pressure resulted in two further goals for Stevenage during the first half. Our second goal came after Josie won the ball back from the opposition and passed through to Nicki, who scored. The third goal was scored by Hannah after a great run down the right. Berkhampstead and Hemel applied pressure but were thwarted by fantastic defending from Holly, Daisy and Jess and some great keeping by Liana. The game was fairly even in the second half. Stevenage continued to work the ball well and had some excellent chances. Berkhampstead and Hemel were awarded a penalty flick in the closing moments of the game but could not find their way past Liana in goal, who saved their effort, to secure a clean sheet and a victory for our first league game.
