The mighty M3s travelled to promotion chasing Hertford with a much changed team.
It was fairly nip and tuck early on but the home side began to exert goalmouth pressure and within a 10 minute period scored three goals before half time.
Stevenage’s rampaging defenders Martyn Binge (who did another of his famous passes to the oppo, Peter Hindle (who did one of his famous body crunches), Chris Day and Jonathan Brown did a great job against lively forwards. They were marshalled by the gazelle like Andy Blaxill.
After the turn Stevenage got back in to the match as Samuel Baisel caused havoc down the right supported by father and son combo Peter and Cameron Homfray-Cooper.
Tom Woolley on his return to hockey scored a great goal after good work by Joshua Lake and Simon Russell.
Hertford then restored their advantage before Ian Jacko Jackson using his experience and speed of thought to weave into the penalty area and create another goal for Woolley.
Paul Hemmant had a good game in goal before he departs on his Caribbean adventure.
It looked like a 4-2 loss until 2 late goals flattered Hertford with a 6-2 win.
