M4's played their first league game of the 25/26 season at home against a relegated Letchworth 5's side...M4's contained 2 players, Xavi George and James Manning, making their adult league debuts and a returning player in the form of James Ralph Smith. M4's started brightly with a Zammo in goal and a back 3 of Jon Parker, Ian Noble and Graham Spicer creating passes for the midfield including Saad Huda, Chris Niewdach, Josh Lake and Lee Pickersgill. The two strikers of Simon Russell and James Manning had numerous shots and chances on goal. M4's unfortunately were unlucky to conceed the first goal on the 25th minute after a breakaway run by Letchworth from the Stevenage half of the pitch. Soon after Letchworth hit the post after a PC, however, M4's had opportunities including a PC that was awarded on the stroke of half time which Letchworth cleared bringing a half time score line of 1- 0....M4's continued to create chances in the second period with James Manning making good runs and creating chances in the D. Despite this Letchworth were awarded a PC on the 40th minute after a M4's player was not deemed to be 5 metres which Letchworth converted and with tired legs M4's unfortunately conceded a third goal on the 60th minute bringing a final score line of 3 - 0....overall a good performance from all players with plenty more hockey to come throughout the season and a promising start for M4's with good passing hockey and good runs from the midfield....MoM James Manning
