M4's faced an afternoon fixture against an unknown Harpenden 4's side who M4's had never faced before as Harpenden 4's were relegated from the division above last season. With Mike Hamid in goal and a back 4 of Graham Spicer, Ian Noble, Kal Singh and Jon Parker M4's started off well in a very even start to the game. Despite some counter attacks from Harpenden, M4's passed and played well with Saad Huda and Josh Lake in CM making good runs and passes to the LM and RM of Xavi George and Lee Pickersgill. The strikers of James Manning and Alex Lake managed to test the Harpenden goalkeeper on quite a few occasions. Despite good play from M4's a half time score line of 2 - 0 didn't reflect the good play from M4's. Soon after the second period started M4's good play was rewarded after Simon Russell played a good ball into the D and James Manning was on the post to tap it in the goal to bring M4's back into the game. 1 minute later Harpenden gained advantage again as they grabbed a 3rd goal, despite this M4's continued to play well and were rewarded with a second goal after a Josh Lake pass found the stick of James Manning who ran one on one with the Harpenden goalkeeper and managed to find the back of the Harpenden goal to bring M4's back into the game with a 3 - 2 score line. M4's had chances to equalise but despite
continued good play Harpenden managed to get themselves 3 goals within the last 10 minutes of the game to bring a final scoreline of 6 - 2 to Harpenden...overall good play and passing from all with special mention to Mehron Kirk who played very well in both periods coming on as a sub into centre midfield..PoM James Manning
