The M4s embarked on their first away fixture of the 26/27 season with an afternoon trip to face Broxbourne 4s.

The team lined up with Mike Hamid in goal, protected by a solid back four of Alex Lake, Kal Singh, Ian Noble, and Craig Shorrock.

The M4s exploded out of the blocks, netting three early goals within the first 10 minutes. Matt Oliver opened the scoring from a penalty corner, followed swiftly by strikes from Nick Umney and Josh Lake.

Broxbourne 4s, however, managed to pull a goal back midway through the first half, keeping themselves in the contest.

Despite conceding, Josh Lake and Matt Oliver commanded the central midfield, effectively distributing the ball to Xavi George on the right and Harry Umney on the left.

Up front, Jon Parker and Jacob Oliver formed a dangerous partnership. The M4s nearly extended their lead when Jacob Oliver found himself excellently positioned in the 'D', but the Broxbourne keeper produced a fine save to deny him.

The second half saw the M4s maintain their strong performance.

In the 42nd minute, the team faced a temporary setback when Matt Oliver received a yellow card. However, this didn't deter their attacking intent, and they extended their lead in the 47th minute when Nick Umney found the back of the net for his second goal of the match.

The remainder of the game saw chances for both sides. Mike Hamid was called into action, making several crucial saves to preserve the lead. At the other end, Jacob Oliver and Jon Parker came close during a frantic goalmouth scramble.

Ultimately, no further goals were scored, and the M4s secured their first victory of the season with a convincing 4-1 scoreline.
