M4s Faced an Early Afternoon Fixture at Nobel Against Letchworth 5s
M4s lined up with Mike Hamid in goal behind a back four of Kal Singh, Ian Noble, Pete Hindle, and Craig Shorrock.
Unfortunately, M4s conceded an early goal just 3 minutes into the game. However, this setback did not unsettle the side, with Matt Oliver and Mehron Kirk commanding the centre-midfield positions well.
As the half progressed, M4s grew into the match, building neat passes and creating good chances on the Letchworth goal—highlighted by an opportunity from Jon Parker that went just wide.
The sustained pressure paid off in the 23rd minute when Matt Oliver equalised with a crisp shot from a penalty corner.
M4s carried their positive momentum into the second half, with Alex Lake at RM and Jacob Oliver at LM making sharp runs towards the Letchworth goal. After nearly going ahead during a goalmouth scramble, M4s took the lead when a ball driven into the D was neatly redirected by Simon Russell, who slotted it past the Letchworth keeper.
Letchworth responded quickly, equalising 5 minutes later before taking a 3–2 lead in the 56th minute.
With 14 minutes remaining, M4s defended resolutely to prevent further damage, with Enzo Kirk marking key Letchworth players out of the game. Despite chances at both ends, no further goals were scored, leaving M4s on the wrong end of a tight 3–2 result.
Overall, it was a strong team performance from everyone as M4s now prepare for two tough away fixtures....Man of the Match: Jacob Oliver
