Sunday saw the M4s travel to Luton Town 3s for the first of two consecutive away fixtures in the MR Cricket East League Division 7 South West.

The match marked league debuts for Alfie Colwell and Dylan Harrison.

Lining up with Mike Hamid in goal, M4s deployed a solid back four of Graham Spicer, Tony Farnan, Dylan Harrison, and Jon Parker.

In the centre of the pitch, central midfielders Chris Day and Matt Oliver controlled the tempo brilliantly, feeding crisp passes out to Alfie Colwell on the left and Lawrie Western on the right, both of whom troubled the Luton defense with tireless runs down the flanks.

This early pressure paid off in the 15th minute when Chris Day found the back of the net to give the visitors a deserved 1-0 lead going into halftime.

M4s started the second half with high energy, maintaining their disciplined press and fluid passing hockey.

Simon Russell and Harp Mann both came close to extending the lead, while Jacob Oliver and Alfie Colwell combined brilliantly down the left wing to unlock the Luton 3's defence.

The pressure culminated in the 54th minute when Lawrie Western converted a well-executed penalty corner.

Lawrie Western wasn't finished there: he struck again in the 58th and 61st minutes to complete a superb hat-trick and stretch the M4s' lead to a commanding 4-0.

Luton 3's fought back late, and despite a string of excellent saves from Mike Hamid throughout the early afternoon fixture, the hosts managed consolation goals in the 64th and 70th minutes.

Despite the late blemishes, it was an outstanding team performance and a well-earned 4-2 victory.

Special congratulations go to Jacob Oliver for claiming Man of the Match.

The M4s now look ahead to next Saturday as they prepare for a short tough away fixture at local rivals MBDA.
