It was Anne Graves' birthday in March. Whisper it quietly .. she is 76: and the Holder of the Guinness World Record for "oldest hockey player (female)", ratified when she was a mere 74. Having played for L5 at John Henry Newman on Saturday 5 March we hope it will be confirmed by GWR that she has broken her own record by two years.
We are responding to newer members who want to know more on Club History with a few pages called just that. The latest of these gives an insight into the man behind the Geoff Middleton Memorial Trophy.
This weekend sees the last of the Men's 2s v 3s derby for this season. Failure for both sides is not an option. At stake is bragging rights in the club and, quite possibly, overall position to the end of the season. Will the Two Captains still be friends at the end of this? Will Crocker's control contribute to a cataclysm for Wharton? Will Holt's heroics herald a hammering for Russell? 70 minutes of adrenaline fuelled mayhem will tell. Saturday, 3:30 at Nobel.
StevenageHC wishes all the best and speedy recoveries for Ladies 3s player Claire Wakefield (surgery on a prolapsed disc) and Mens 2s player Tom Shearn (facial injuries).
The first draw for the Gau Algesheim One Hundred Club took place at the Christmas party. The winner of the first £50 prize was Kevin Wharton. Congratulations and mine's a pint of IPA.

Sleep was minimal for those younger tourists who chose the Club House overnight accommodation option but with three well contested games (during which the tour team stayed undefeated) in a little over 24 hours the schedule did not allow for much shut eye anyway!
Gau Algesheim will be sending a touring party to Stevenage over Easter 2012.
