Stevenage M1’s v WGC 1’s.
Stevenage M1’s welcomed Welwyn GC 1’s for the first league game of the season.
And it started in absolute typical fashion, it took the home side a mere 30 seconds before Aiden Parker (possibly the quickest goal in 1s history) got Stevenage on the board and the first goal of the 23/24 season.
Stevenage continued the pressure and before long were 2-0 up from a Niall Trimble shot, off the back post, back of the keeper and in. Welwyn then got one back on a quick break. But Mike Oliver restored the 2 goal cushion. In what is probably a patented move by now. A winding run from just inside the oppos halve followed by a cracker into the bottom corner.
Welwyn got a goal back again on the break straight after halve time.
Niall Trimble got his second of the match to make it 4-2. Oliver then capped of his second of the match with a tap in at the back door after a great give and go from Farnan.
Stevenage walk away 5-2 Victor's. MOM Luke Wilkinson.
They travel to Sandy next week. A fixture which last year entailed 22 goals over 2 legs.
